Owning a Canon EW-88B Lens Hood may mark a difference from bad to good pictures. The purpose of a lens hood is to prevent exterior glare from stray bright light that can seriously degrade the image quality. A longer hood offers better performance but when the hood exceeds a critical length "framing" sets in. Framing occurs because the lens begins "seeing" the hood and it gets in the way of the picture.
