The Indiana-born singer/songwriter/entrepreneur made his initial mark on the genre with his Gaither Vocal Band and Bill Gaither Trio; however, his most profound influence on the gospel has come via his Gaither Family Homecoming releases and concerts. The long-running series, co-captained by his wife, Gloria, has been paramount in the revival of traditional Southern gospel, and has helped to reinvigorate the careers of classic singers and groups as well as launching those of some of the biggest names in gospel and CCM.
