Celtic Thunder (80s) Music
Artist Overview
Irish five-man, multi-generational vocal group Celtic Thunder mixes traditional Irish folk roots with more contemporary sounds, in an accessible style that has made them something akin to the Three Tenors of Irish music, or the similar but gender-reversed Celtic Woman. A concert for PBS helped to bring the group and their elaborate stage show worldwide acceptance. Not to be confused with the 1980s group of the same name, Celtic Thunder, essentially a performance group, made its live debut in 2007, and released its first album the following year. A follow-up album and DVD in 2009 has become a best-seller, and has further increased their media exposure and fanbase.
