Although she was plagued by critics' charges that her success was more a result of physical beauty than musical talent, her popularity was unassailable and her classical reinterpretations of pop recordings -- most notably Dolly Parton's "I Will Always Love You" - certainly did not stunt her fanbase. Born in Wales in 1980, Jenkins fell under the sway of classical music early in childhood, joining the Royal School of Church Music Cathedral Singers and serving with the National Youth Choir of Wales.
