The Warlocks Music

Artist Overview
Los Angeles as been a center of psychedelic music since the style's heyday in the 1960s, and has generated not one but two subsequent "neo" movements. Central to the second wave of La La Land revivalists are the Warlocks. Although the band's influences are obvious, they are also many in number, and make for a diverse and surprisingly mercurial musical aesthetic. Formed in the late 1990s, the Warlocks combine Velvet Underground primitivism, British shoegaze, and primal Nuggets-style garage to create a sound that is retro yet very much in line with the contemporary scene from which they arose. Not surprisingly, leader Bobby Hecksher spent time in the similarly acid-eating Brian Jonestown Massacre before forming the Warlocks.
