Artist Overview
Originating in the noise rock scene around the Rhode Island School of Design in Providence, Black Dice moved to New York City and quickly established themselves as one of the most willfully challenging and experimentally minded bands of the early-2000s NYC indie scene. Known for a bludgeoning mix of power electronics and more traditional rock instrumentation, Black Dice evolved their high-concept squall to incorporate bits of electronica, ambient soundscapes, and long form improvisational workouts. The highly prolific trio have collaborated with the likes of Wolf Eyes and Animal Collective, and have shared the stage with the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Sonic Youth, among many others.
