Switchfoot Music
Artist Overview
Switchfoot takes a gutsy approach to Christian rock, with post-grunge nods to punk and 1990s alt-rock, and introspective lyrics that neither oversimplify the mechanics of faith nor preach to the converted. This San Diego-based quartet (named after a surfing term) released their first album in 1997 to generally good reviews in CCM circles, and continued to grow musically with each release. Their 2003 major label debut, THE BEAUTIFUL LETDOWN, exposed them to a big secular audience, as emo fans embraced their vivid songcraft, ignored or accepted their gospel background, and supported their many live shows and subsequent recordings.
