Simple Minds Music
Artist Overview
Scotland's Simple Minds rose from the ashes of the punk group Johnny & the Self Abusers to experiment with art rock and electro-dance rhythms. Eventually their post-Roxy Music sound grew more anthemic and by the mid-'80s they achieved worldwide success, aided by the huge hit "Don't You Forget About Me," featured on the soundtrack to THE BREAKFAST CLUB. The outfit, led by affably bombastic frontman Jim Kerr (one-time hubby of Chrissy Hynde), became regular features on the American pop charts during the '80s with hits like "Alive & Kicking" and "Sanctify Yourself." Simple Minds would continue to perform well on college radio well into the following decade.
