Billy Ocean Music
Artist Overview
Globetrotting singer-songwriter and prodigious 1980s U.S. hitmaker Billy Ocean's career was slow-building, but ultimately spectacular. After scoring a huge British (and moderate stateside) hit in 1976 with "Love Really Hurts Without You," he toiled, if not in obscurity, consistently below the radar. However, in 1984, the single "Caribbean Queen (No More Love on the Run)" raced to number one in America, the first of his seven top ten hits in the decade. Ocean's balance of invigorating disco-pop and scorching quiet storm made him a radio mainstay decades after the hit supply ran out.
