LeVert Music
Artist Overview
The urban soul group LeVert was formed in Ohio in 1984 by the two sons of Eddie Levert, founder of the iconic `70s smooth soul group, the O'Jays. Sean and Gerald LeVert took a page from their father's book by incorporating polished grooves and sweet, close harmonies into their R&B sound. Adding third member Marc Gordon, LeVert released their debut, I GET HOT, in 1985, following up with 1986's BLOODLINE, an album that yielded the #1 R&B hit "Pop, Pop, Pop, Pop (Goes My Mind)." THE BIG THROWDOWN (1987) proved to be the group's biggest seller, producing two R&B chart hits. JUST COOLIN' (1988) also went gold. Even when Gerald began concentrating on a solo career in the `90s, LeVert continued to record and perform, releasing three more albums. Gerald died in 2006, followed by Sean in 2008.
