Rufus R&B

Artist Overview
Chicago-based multiracial funk band Rufus was an offshoot of the 1960s pop group the American Breed. After they covered Stevie Wonder's "Maybe Baby" on their first album, Wonder wrote "Tell Me Something Good" for their second, which became a smash in 1974. Singer Chaka Khan, always the star of the group, began a solo career in '78, returning to record occasionally with Rufus for the next several years. The band continued scoring hits (though never equaling their mid-'70s heyday) up until their final album in 1983.
