Matthias Hohner was responsible for developing the harmonica, as it exists today.
A harmonica consists of two reed plates, the top one for blow reeds and the bottom one for draw reeds, which are attached to a comb and shielded with top and bottom covers. Each reed plate has different length slots over which reeds of corresponding length are fixed at one end. An air Stream passes over the reeds into or out of chambers in the comb and causes the reeds to vibrate. This configuration of reeds puts the harmonica in the class of so-called free reed instruments.

Puck is named after the whimsical fairy imp who was made popular in Shakespeare's Midsummer Night's Dream. The term 'Puck' emerged in different variations among European languages during the medieval times. It's referred to as a devil Character but believed as a pixie under the devil's charm. The Puck Series is among Hohner's popular historic harmonicas and the series has been reissued for contemporary use. The series was popular in the 1920's for its petite (pixie-like) size (2 9/16" x 7/8" wide) and full diatonic range. This new harmonica features a plastic body, with 20 reeds and a plastic carrying case.
