Smart Media: Comparable to a compact flash card, the Smartcard or Smartmedia Card is popular as memory in digital cameras. It stores memory very efficiently and is available with different memory capacities - more memory allows more image storage. Its compact size permits cameras to be as small as possible. This memory can be transferred to any PCMCIA-equipped computer (usually notebooks) with a commonly available PCMCIA adapter. There are also SmartMedia card readers that will read directly from a SmartMedia card and provide direct hook-up to your computer via a USB, Parallel, FireWire or SCSI port (where applicable)
