Total Harmonic Distortion. Distortion that is expressed as a percentage of the total output of an audio component. The lower the value, the higher the performance. Usually rated at hundreths to thousanths of 1 percent. A value of less than 1 percent is usually considered acceptable. Most high quality audio components have a THD of less than 1 percent.
