ZIP refers to a disk format developed by Iomega. A ZIP drive uses special high capacity disks that can hold up to 100MB of data in uncompressed modes. These disks are removable which means that they may be filed away. This format has become very popular and the ZIP drive is included with some computers as well as being sold separately. Comparable sxtended storage formats include JAZ, SyJet, EZ-Flyer.
