A dark and powerful drama based on the autobiographical novel by poetess Sylvia Plath. The film depicts the painful mental breakdown of a dynamic, industrious woman in the fifties who works at an upscale fashion magazine. When Esther (Hassett) returns to her home in New England, her mental state continues to diminish. Somber news from every angle eventually pushes her over the edge.
