In 1972, documentary filmmaker Arnold Shapiro brought 17 juvenile delinquents to a maximum security prison in New Jersey to spend a day with some of the most dangerous and hardened criminals behind bars. These life-sentence inmates gave the wayward teens a shockingly realistic, no-holds-barred account of the brutality of daily prison life, powerfully documented by Shapiro in his Oscar and Emmy-award winning film SCARED STRAIGHT.
