Having become obsessed with finding a cure for death after the gruesome demise of his mother during childbirth, the doctor pieced together a man from parts collected from the poor sections of town. Realizing that his appearance would ostracize him forever, denying him all chance for friendship or love, the creature turns on his creator and those close to him including his lover (Helena Bonham-Carter).
