Nicholas is a troubled French teen whose parents are in the narcotics business. Pursued by the police, his father is killed in a horrible car crash, and his mother is captured and sent to prison. The newly orphaned Nicholas is sent to live with a foster family, where he chafes under the new conditions of life, and has difficulty adjusting. His one consolation is a budding friendship with a local boy, his new foster sister's boyfriend. The trio hatches a daring scheme to break Nicholas' mom out of prison, the success of which depends upon the rather volatile ingredients of a faked death, stolen firearms, and a run for the border.
