The comedy DUMB LUCK features Scott Baio as Steve Hitchcock, a divorced accountant, whose sister sets him up on a blind date in a shopping mall. Meanwhile, at the same mall, Norman Byers (Scott Subiono), a computer expert, is supposed to meet his partner Kelly Jordan (Tracy Nelson) to give her some incriminating phone numbers. When he ends up being chased by two men, he quickly has to drop the evidence into Steve's shopping bag. Shortly afterwards, Steve assumes Kelly is his blind date and takes her out for dinner. Kelly accepts the invitation, as she needs to recover the data from Steve.
