SEINFELD may be partly to blame for America's negative view of New Yorkers. Though it wasn't the first show to assert the rudeness of Gotham's citizens, its characters are selfish to a fault--not that there's anything wrong with that. Self-obsessed comedian Jerry Seinfeld is back in the title role, and joining him are neurotic ex-girlfriend Elaine (Julia Louis-Dreyfus); chronically lazy pal George (Jason Alexander); and Cosmo Kramer (Michael Richards), who takes the sitcom clich of the weird neighbor to impressive new heights. Despite their faults (perhaps because of them) they're some of the most hilariously watchable characters in television history. Though it was famously "the show about nothing," season seven marks a major change in George's life: his engagement to Susan (Heidi Swedberg). Their relationship produced the darkly comic season finale "The Invitation" and a guest appearance from an amorous Marisa Tomei in "The Cadillac." The seventh season also features some of the show's most memorable episodes, including "The Soup Nazi," "The Sponge," and "The Rye."
Cast:
5 stars out of 5 -- "[T]his seventh season of Jerry and the gang's misadventures is pretty close to their best."
-- Aubrey Day
