The second season of Lorne Michaels's variety show marks the departure of the beloved Chevy Chase, but that wound was mended with the arrival of a new talent: Bill Murray, who became an audience favorite. SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE's 1976-1977 season features more of the deft combination of smarts and silliness that made the first year such a success. The show's sophomore year also boasts the comedy of hosts such as Lily Tomlin, Jodie Foster, Elliott Gould, and Steve Martin, as well as musical guests including the Band, Paul Simon, Frank Zappa, Santana, and Tom Waits.
