It started with the world's most basic setup: a guy walks into a bar. From that sturdy concept, CHEERS served out 11 seasons worth of comedy about its beloved Boston watering hole and the stock characters who inhabited it: womanizing bartender Sam Malone (Ted Danson); effete psychiatrist Frasier Krane (Kelsey Grammer); mouthy barmaid Carla (Rhea Perlman); prim-and-proper waitress Diane Chambers (Shelley Long); and, of course, its lovable barflies--working stiff Norm Peterson (George Wendt) and mailman/philosopher Cliff Clavin (John Ratzenberger). Throughout its long run, the show lost and gained characters: fellow bartender "Coach" (Nicholas Colasanto) died after just two seasons to be replaced by country-boy "Woody" Boyd (Woody Harrelson). After Sam sold the bar, Kirstie Alley joined the cast as Rebecca, Sam's new manager and comic foil. He later reaquired it through a series of unlikely events, reversing their roles. For its long run, CHEERS stayed bubbly--remaining in the number one spot for its final season and striking a perfect note, with the lights dimming across the bar stools, for its much-watched finale. This collection presents all 11 seasons of the series.
