While investigating a murder in modern Manchester, detective Sam Tyler (John Simm, STATE OF PLAY) is struck by a car and knocked out cold--when he wakes up, its 1973. Unsure if hes dreaming or if he has actually been sent back in time, Tyler finds that hes still employed as a homicide detective, though he must now do the job without high-tech gadgets, quick forensic tests, or strict ethical guidelines.
