Big Bang Theory - Seasons 1-2

Sitcom writers Chuck Lorre (TWO AND A HALF MEN) and Bill Prady (GILMORE GIRLS) teamed up to create this show about two geeks. The premise may have been familiar territory for the writers: Lorre is credited with the theme song for TEENAGE MUTANT TURTLES and Prady wrote episodes of STAR TREK: VOYAGER. In any case, they found perfect leads for the sitcoms pair of socially inept physicists: Johnny Galecki (David on ROSEANNE) is perfectly cast as Leonard, a shy and sheepish brainiac, while Jim Parson plays Sheldon with a smug elitism that suggests a more sci-fi obsessed Niles Crane. The roommates odd-couple dynamics are further enhanced by the appearance of a creature completely foreign to them: a woman. Kaley Cuoco plays Penny, a chirpy blonde waitress who moves in next door and gradually invades their dweebish den, drawing them out of their shells and perhaps--if Leonard ever gathers the nerve--providing a little romance. In a final move destined to earn the show its nerd credentials, its theme song is performed by the Barenaked Ladies. This collection features the first two seasons of the hit sitcom.
