To listen to sound clips, you'll need the most current version of the
Performer: The Georgia Satellites
Producer: Georgia Satellites; Jeff Glixman; Joe Hardy; Brendan O'Brien Distributor: WEA (Distributor) Notes: Before the Black Crowes hit big with their sleazy Stones rock, the Georgia Satellites were letting it rip with the same formula, albeit it with a rougher, almost punk edge similar to the Replacements'. Although the Satellites released a total of four albums during the '80s, only their self-titled debut remains in print, so the 1993 compilation LET IT ROCK: THE BEST OF is of interest to the serious fan as well as the newcomer. At a whopping 20 tracks in length, LET IT ROCK shows that there was much more to the Georgia Satellites than just their two biggest hits, "Keep Your Hands to Yourself" and "Battleship Chains." LET IT ROCK: THE BEST OF is a solid set from beginning to end.
Q (4/93, p.98) - 2 Stars - Average - "...this 20-track canter through their career stretches the initial appeal to the breaking point....refreshingly to the point, they were fun while it lasted..."
