After withstanding the trauma of Hurricane Katrina, and suffering a series of personal setbacks, Down came back with their first studio album in five years. The tribulations paid off, however, because OVER THE UNDER burns with a fiery conviction, and the band's channeling of classic hard rock (Black Sabbath and Led Zeppelin) along with more contemporary alternative and metal is as refined and hard-hitting as ever. Opener "Three Suns and One Star," the thrashing "N.O.D.," and the churning surge of "Never Try" are among the album's highlights. |
