The sophomore album from EPMD, UNFINISHED BUSINESS picks up right where the hip-hop duo's debut album leaves off. Packed with funk-flavored, bass-rockin' tracks like "So Wat Cha Sayin'," "The Big Payback," and "Total Kaos," UNFINISHED BUSINESS is a stellar follow-up effort. MCs Erik Sermon and Parrish Smith (aka E-Double and PMD) spit their trademark rhymes over killer beats. Back in 1989, when the album was originally released, EPMD was just gaining steam toward becoming one of rap's longest-lasting groups. Tracks like "Get the Bozak," "Please Listen to My Demo," and "Strictly Snappin' Necks" shouldn't be missed. UNFINISHED BUSINESS is big business.
Long Island-born rappers Erick Sermon and Parrish Smith formed the underground hip-hop duo EPMD in the late 1980s. Creating a sound and stance so self-assured as to seem effortless, they were among very few rap artists with the talent to pull it off without sounding lazy. EPMD did much to revitalize a flagging rap scene with UNFINISHED BUSINESS, an early outburst of controlled creative energy that sampled rock sources as well as underground dance music, working up a healthy, funk-fueled groove.
