Folk doesn't get much more traditional than the Highwaymen, the vocal and guitar group responsible in part for popularizing "Michael, Row the Boat Ashore" in the 1960s. Although the band has never broken up, this 2007 release marks their first studio album since 1964. On it they explore classic folk tunes from England, Scotland, and Ireland, including well-known sing-alongs like "Whiskey in the Jar," "Finnegan's Wake," and "Red is the Rose," as well as more obscure waltzes and jigs. The pleasing harmonies and fine musicianship are all in place on this welcome return.
