One of the prime exponents of mid-1980s pop-metal, Warrant combined a hard-rock edge with a healthy dose of glam exuberance and full-bore pop hooks. Arriving at the tail end of the "hair metal" onslaught that took the U.S. charts by storm in the mid-'80s, Warrant released their first album in 1989, enjoying enormous success. The next year's follow-up, CHERRY PIE, and its single-entendre title track brought the band's stock even higher, with the single becoming one of the most ubiquitous songs of the era. Though they never equaled this success, Warrant continued working into the 21st century.
