To listen to sound clips, you'll need the most current version of the
Performer: Marie Osmond
Artist: Dan Seals; Paul Davis Producer: Ed Seay; James Stroud; Kyle Lehning; Paul Worley; Sonny James Distributor: WEA (Distributor) Notes: A budget line greatest-hits compilation timed (and titled!) to capitalize on Marie Osmond's popular stint on the television reality show DANCING WITH THE STARS, DANCING WITH THE BEST OF MARIE OSMOND focuses on the popular country-pop singer's 1980s and early '90s time at Curb Records. The 10 songs include her later re-recording of her signature hit, "Paper Roses" (not the original early-'70s single), and the country smashes "Meet Me In Montana," "Read My Lips," and "You're Still New To Me." The Best of Marie Osmond is a good album to add to the country music shelf for both longtime fans and newer ones. This recording gives you some -- but not all -- of her most popular songs together in one collection, including hits like "There's No Stopping Your Heart," "Meet Me in Montana," "Read My Lips," and "Think With Your Heart." Take note that the song "Paper Roses" on this release isn't the original one she did in her early teens in 1973, but a newer version recorded in 1990 just for this album. The only complaint to make about this offering is that it seems a little inadequate for an artist who has been around so long and had so many hits; one would think a few more songs could -- and should -- have been tossed into this Marie Osmond collection of hits, but this is a good start. [Curb reissued the Best of Marie Osmond in 2008 as Dancing With The Best Of Marie Osmond in order to capitalize on her appearance on ABC's popular reality show, Dancing with the Stars. This new version featured a different track order and replaced "I'll Be Faithful to You" with "Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy."]. ~ James Christopher Monger ~ Charlotte Dillon
