To listen to sound clips, you'll need the most current version of the
Performer: Various Artists
Distributor: Fontana Distribution Notes: Includes liner notes by MC Serch. Gang Starr is the biggest name to be found on '80s/'90s hip-hop label Wild Pitch's roster, but they had to move to a bigger home to do their best work. Instead, look to a handful of singles -- Main Source's "Looking at the Front Door" and "Fakin the Funk" and UMC's "Blue Cheese" are good places to start -- for the real deal on this patchy compilation. Entertainment Weekly (10/7/94, p.76) - "...if your collection doesn't include GangStarr's `Words I Manifest' or any of the early-`90s Main Source tracks...then you'd better catch up with the rest of the class..." - Rating: A-
Alternative Press (10/01, p.104) - 8 out of 10 - "...Proves Wild Pitch's roster was packed with innovators..."
