Distributor: RED Distribution Notes: Guitarist David Becker has been pursuing his own brand of contemporary jazz for years. LEAVING ARGENTINA is proof that he's not run out of ideas yet. Drawing on the assorted folk and traditional music of Argentina (and South America in general), LEAVING transmits Becker's Latin impressions dynamically and tunefully to the listener. While this program is indeed relaxed and accessible, it's not background music, either. For one, switching between acoustic and electric guitars, Becker makes subtle use of dramatic, sultry Argentine tango rhythms. The rest of his band nimbly matches Becker every step of the way.
