Recorded at Can-Base Studios, Vancouver, Canada. Heart's 1976 album, DREAMBOAT ANNIE, is easily one of the '70s best rock debuts. Led by two sisters, singer Ann and guitarist Nancy Wilson, who combined the mystical folk of Joni Mitchell with the heavy metal stomp of Led Zeppelin, the album spawned several hits that have become classic rock radio staples over the years. Both "Magic Man" and "Crazy on You" are red hot rockers (the former is an autobiographical tale from Ann), while the title track is more subdued. DREAMBOAT ANNIE showed the largely male-dominated '70s rock world that the Wilson sisters could rock every bit as hard as their macho peers.
Led by sisters Ann and Nancy Wilson, Heart struck a crucial blow for feminisim in the male-dominated world of '70s rock. They could switch from powerful, Zeppelin-like grandeur to gorgeous acoustic ballads in the blink of an eye and turned out a stream of radio staples. By the '80s, they were churning out slick pop, but the sisters re-emerged in the '90s in stripped-down acoustic duo format as the Lovemongers.
