Distributor: WEA (Distributor) Notes: As the son of country's greatest artist, Hank Williams Jr. had some big shoes to fill, and he honored his legacy by going the rebel route with a rock-influenced outlaw country sound that proved inspirational to a host of younger rock and country artists. This two-disc collection captures some of the country rebel's defining moments, from the autobiographical "Family Tradition" to the bad-boy mission statement "Whiskey Bent and Hell Bound," the rockin' anthem "All My Rowdy Friends Are Coming Over Tonight," and its tongue-in-cheek honky-tonk sequel, "All My Rowdy Friends (Have Settled Down)."
Hank Williams Jr. spent years trying to duplicate his famous father's sound. But his greatest success came when he shook off that weighty mantle. Williams's new sound integrated country and southern rock, a formula that made him one of country's biggest stars of the 1980s. Down the line, he proved to be influential to a new generation of rebels like Kid Rock and Uncle Kracker.
