Alliance Notes: Although the title and cover art suggest a new age/relaxation album, or perhaps a set of world music, SONGS FOR TIBET is actually one of the coolest pop compilations of 2008. Opening with Imogen Heap's gorgeously ethereal "Hide & Seek," the collection gathers creative remixes by Sting, Regina Spektor, Suzanne Vega, John Mayer, and other stars, who re-envision previously released works as hymns, campfire songs, arias, jazzy dance numbers, and an array of other heart-targeting styles--all for a good cause. Proceeds from sales are directed to the Art of Peace Foundation, to fund projects that promote world peace and the preservation of Tibetan culture.
Entertainment Weekly (p.61) - "[F]amiliar songs with new acoustic arrangements from artists like Sting, Alanis Morissette, Regina Spektor, and Dave Matthews that settle in like a soft blanket." -- Grade: B+
Mojo (Publisher) (p.108) - 3 stars out of 5 -- "Underworld's 'To Heal' makes a haunting closer."
