Released to follow up on the success of their single "La Cumbia Del Rio," it finds them doing for traditional Mexican music roughly what the Beastie Boys did for hip-hop. That is, they approach the form with obvious love and old-school skills, but also an unmistakable irreverence and quirky light-hearted feel. The arrangements stick to the traditional template, but there's a woozy, left-field vibe that will make you wonder whether you or they have had a little too much cerveza.
