A full decade after their debut outing, ROYAL HIGHNESS, California's Kottonmouth Kings remain staunchly devoted to their hemp-obsessed brand of rap-rock, as revealed on 2008's THE GREEN ALBUM. Highlights include the surprisingly introspective "Where I'm Going," the laid-back "Pack Your Bowls," and the hard-hitting "Puff N Tuff," tracks that show that the Kings' heads still remain in the (smoke) clouds.
Since their first release in 1998, Daddy X and the rest of the Kottonmouth Kings have bluntly made pot smoking as much a part of their mission as their music. But that hasn't stopped them from becoming celebrated performers with crowds who grew up on the psychedelic stoner haze of rap groups like Cypress Hill. In their decade-plus of making records and advocating marijuana, they've been named HIGH TIMES' Band Of The Year, toured with the likes of D12, and even started their own label, Suburban Noize, which has released all their albums as of the mid-2000s, as well as efforts by such luminaries as Cypress Hill's Sen Dog.
