Distributor: Sony Music Entertainment Notes: Original music by Alan Silvestri. Surely you're up for another cinematic Cinderella story a la PRETTY WOMAN, but this time starring the ubiquitous Jennifer Lopez and noted British thespian Ralph Fiennes? OK, even if you're not, its difficult to refute the appeal of MAID IN MANHATTAN's soundtrack. Old meets new as New York folk-pop chanteuse Norah Jones rubs shoulders with Diana Ross, and soft-rock soldiers Bread share space with R&B siren Kelly Rowland. Res's update of Jefferson Airplane's proto-Quiet Storm hit "Miracles" seems like it's been out there waiting for a long time. The late Eva Cassidy's version of the Simon & Garfunkel ballad "Kathy's Song" leads directly into a tune from Simon himself, and so on. Just to remind you that there's a movie amid all this music, a couple of Alan Silvestri-penned instrumental pieces wrap the whole thing up.
