Recorded live in Boston, Massachusetts. Fresh off the success of the MTV reality show The Osbournes, Ozzfest 2002 hit the road as the announcement was made that matriarch and managing genius Sharon was diagnosed with colon cancer. Amid the upheaval of this news, Ozzy was convinced to make sure the tour went on as planned, and the proof is OZZFEST 2002 LIVE ALBUM. This year's line-up proved to be more diverse than in preceding years, with the big names consisting of critics' darlings System Of A Down ("Needles"), Rob Zombie ("More Human Than Human"), and southern California natives P.O.D. ("Outkast"). In addition to fulfilling his axe-wielding duties for Ozzy, Zakk Wylde proved to be quite busy as he not only fronted his own outfit Black Label Society ("Berserkers") but joined aggro-rockers Soil on their hit "Halo." Other notable performances include southern metal supergroup Down delivering a killer "Ghosts Along The Mississippi," Swedish death metallists (and Jack Osbourne faves ) Meshuggah grinding out "New Millennium Cyanide Christ," and Drowning Pool (featuring late frontman Dave Williams) eerily covering Metallica's "Creeping Death." Ozzy's resurrection of the Sabbath classic "War Pigs" is a nice touch and is juxtaposed by the Andrew W.K. and Kelly Osbourne duet "She Is Beautiful."
