Distributor: Universal Distribution

Notes: On his sophomore effort, the teenage rap sensation continues with the winning snap rap formula that brought him Grammy-nominated success on his 2007 debut. Soulja Boy laces 16 soaring, synth-driven beats (courtesy of Drumma Boy, Jim Jonsin, Polow da Don, Zaythoven, Mr. Hankey, Mr. Collipark, and Soulja Boy himself) with simplistic but undeniably infectious flows. "Turn My Swag On" has Soulja Boy crooning of the hardships of being "the most hated," "Gucci Bandana" is a compact expression of ghetto fabulousness that speaks volumes, while "Shopping Spree" sees him taking Gucci Mane and Yo Gotti along on an ego-trip through the mall. Sean Kingston, Juney Boondata, Shawty Lo, and the Showstoppas are also featured.
Even more impressive than the phenomenal success of Soulja Boy Tell `Em's single "Crank That (Soulja Boy)," which spent seven non-consecutive weeks on the charts at #1, is the grass roots story behind the artist's emergence. Born in Chicago (as DeAndre Ramone Way) and raised in Atlanta and Mississippi, Soulja Boy garnered a sizable following by publishing his home-studio demos on YouTube and MySpace. An independently released album (STILL UNSIGNED AND MAJOR) and a homemade video for "Crank That" led to a deal with Interscope, who released Soulja's second full-length, SOULJABOYTELLEM.COM, in 2007. Soulja Boy's music is steeped in the Dirty South style, drawing heavily from crunk and hook-heavy, Southern party rap.
