Performer: Graham Nash
Distributor: WEA (Distributor) Notes: Over the course of its three discs, REFLECTIONS chronicles the long, rich career of Graham Nash. The set moves pretty much chronologically, beginning with the pop hits Nash scored in the 1960s with British Invasion heroes the Hollies before moving on to his work with Crosby, Stills & Nash (and sometimes Young), as well as the Crosby & Nash side project, and of course, Nash's solo recordings. Nash brought an all-important pop sensibility to CSN, resulting in classic tracks like "Marrakesh Express" and "Our House," but his more intense side came out on such cuts as "Cathedral" and "Military Madness," and this set includes all those and more. Hardcore Nash fans will be especially attracted to the numerous alternate mixes and previously unreleased songs that dot the track listing.
Mojo (Publisher) (p.122) - 4 stars out of 5 -- "Several of its most exhilarating moments are found in his recent work, such as a tribute to Roy Orbison, and 'Dirty Little Secret,' a stirring recreation of a shameful episode in US history."
Graham Nash's solo work is, in most cases, simple acoustic folk-pop, with the occasional bluesy or rocking tune, distinguished by that familiar and amiable tenor voice. One of rock music's true nice guys, he has recorded and toured on a light schedule, particularly after a 1999 boating mishap that left him temporarily wheelchair-bound. Nash has also undertaken several reunions with his old bands, Crosby, Stills & Nash (and various permutations thereof) and the Hollies.
