Distributor: Infinity Entertainment Gr Notes: Though the songwriting team Ashford & Simpson have one of the most enviable resumes in all of popular music, having written hits for Marvin Gaye, Ray Charles, and Diana Ross, their solo releases on Motown and Warner Brothers, though artistically rewarding, were only fitfully successful until the release of this blockbuster LP. The memorable title track, a snappy synth-led ode to the joys of marriage, carried SOLID to the top of the R&B charts in late 1984. Ashford & Simpson have always been the prime representatives in R&B of the joys of wedded bliss, and this extended valentine is their most consistent set as well as their biggest hit ever.
