Audio Mixer: Glyn Johns. Liner Note Author: Legin Klim. Recording information: The Tower Theater, Philadelphia, PA (10/20/1977). Author: Peter Henderson. Photographer: Denis O'Regan. This live album captures a fiery Thin Lizzy in concert delivering hits like "Jailbreak" and "The Boys Are Back in Town" with even more bite and ferocity than the studio versions. The band's signature twin-guitar leads are in full effect, and frontman Phil Lynott is in peak form, leading the crowd in a rowdy singalong on "Baby Drives Me Crazy" and evoking Van Morrison on "Dancing in the Moonlight." Meanwhile, the heavy, frenetic riffs of "Massacre" offer an indication of just why Lizzy was so influential to '80s metal bands.
Kerrang (Magazine) (p.54) - "[I]t's a clean, professional job that's fortified by some of Lynott's best material..."
Mojo (Publisher) (p.120) - 4 stars out of 5 -- "Thirty-two years on, the combination punch of 'Cowboy Song' and 'The Boys Are Back In Town' is still a knockout."
Ireland's first heavy rockers, Thin Lizzy rocked throughout the '70s with a mix of teenage rebellion and working-class angst, becoming known for wild behavior on and off the stage. Phil Lynott's Bruce Springsteen-meets-Jimi Hendrix voice perfectly suited the band's power-chord hooks and dual guitar harmonies. They hit the bigtime in '76 with JAILBREAK's title track and "Boys Are Back in Town." The group's slow fade-out ended with a farewell tour in 1983, and Lynott's drug-related death in 1986.
