Heavily inspired by the Postal Service, Young crafts bedsitter indie pop with an emo sensibility complemented by lush, layered electronic soundscapes. On MAYBE I'M DREAMING, Young builds on the skills he was developing on OF JUNE (recorded and issued originally in 2007), and turns in an even stronger effort full of durable, breezy melodies, personal lyrics, and carefully orchestrated folktronica.
The alias of young Owatonna, Minnesota-based Christian electronica artist Adam Young, Owl City takes the keyboard-centric indie-pop aesthetic of the Postal Service, and glosses it with an emo-oriented, tween-friendly veneer. One of the most popular unsigned artists on MySpace, Young, who also counts Swimming With Dolphins and Port Blue among his musical projects, released a number of albums on his own, including MAYBE I'M DREAMING, before unveiling the highly anticipated OCEAN EYES.
