Hastily assembled, filler-ridden compilations are a dime-a-dozen in the commercially saturated dance and club music market, but the ThriveMusic label seems to have its pulse locked onto the hottest party-starting anthems of the 2000's with their TOTAL CLUB HITS series. Volume Three in the reliably all-killer series once again features the mixing talents of DJ Skribble on material leaning toward the ballad-y end of the dance-pop/pop-rap spectrum. This seamlessly mixed collection of snapping 808 snares, searing synth leads, and Auto-tuned balladry contains some of 2009's biggest club bangers, from the sweet (Flo Rida's "Sugar") to the boastful (DJ Class's "I'm the Ish") to the lovelorn (Jamie Foxx's "Just Like Me"). Like the first and second volumes of the series, the third volume of the Thrive label's Total Club Hits is mixed by DJ Skribble, and it is a mostly up-to-date -- as of May 2009 -- assortment of popular rap and R&B cuts aimed at the dancefloor (with the exception of Twista and Erika Shevon's "Wetter," a slow jam that closes out the set). The emphasis is on the tracks, not the mixing, so the majority of each selection plays out prior to Skribble transitioning to the next one. Many of the most popular hits from the last couple months of 2008 and the first half of 2009 are included, such as Bobby Valentino's "Beep," GS Boyz's "Stanky Legg," Akon's "Right Now (Na Na Na)," and Ciara's "Go Girl." ~ Andy Kellman
