Many people know that Roy Rogers began his career as a member of the Sons of the Pioneers. Fewer remember that the group went on to a long successful career after Rogers left in 1937. The group's Western themes, to which they added sweet harmonies, had a profound influence on country artists of the next generation. Hank Williams, Sr., for one, included many of their numbers in his live show.
