Notes: There was a time when albums like K-TEL PRESENTS: MUSIC EXPLOSION (with its' "As Seen on TV" cover sticker) were front and center in listeners' record collections, but that time is long gone. Mp3's have replaced most of the venerable "hits" anthologies that peppered the market back in the 70s and 80s, but the golden age of "corporate mix tapes/vinyl" must still hypnotize a large enough group of potential listeners to warrant a new life on CD. MUSIC EXPLOSION is stuffed with 14 examples of pure-'70s AM radio, including tracks from Kiss ("Beth"), Dobie Gray ("Drift Away"), and television composer Mike Post, whose theme for the ROCKFORD FILES is still one the coolest jams ever pasted over the opening credits of a prime-time TV show.
