Notes: This sequel to 2007's Temptation: Music from the Showtime Series Californication dials down the classic rock that peppered the popular cable television program's first season in favor of some good old-fashioned indie/adult alternative rock (Sheryl Crow, Mark Kozelek, Nick Cave) and modern hard rock (Poets & Pornstars, Lions, Rob Zombie). As with nearly all "music from the film/television series" collections, it's a hit-or-miss affair that will appeal more to fans of the program than the featured artists. Highlights include Warren Zevon's typically snide and sinister "My S**t's F****d Up," English roots rock outfit Alberta Cross' dreamy "Low Men," and garage rock revivalists the Stereotypes' "Sister Ray"-inspired "New Situation." ~ James Christopher Monger
