Following just two years after his much-ballyhooed 2007 effort LIVE AT THE APOLLO: THE PROCLAMATION, Byron Cage's follow-up FAITHFUL TO BELIEVE is a more refined, less bombastic, but equally passionate live album, this time recorded in Detroit. The latter disc finds Cage and his crack outfit tackling everything from the driving, polyrhythmic grooves and electric sitar riffs of "Faithful to Believe" to the smooth R&B piano balladry of "He Will Answer." Of course, good `ol foot-stompin' church music is never far from center stage, as evidenced by the rollicking, crowd-pleasing "I Can't Hold It." No matter what the musical setting Cage and his band are filled with the spirit, whipping the crowd into a state of joyful exultation.
